USA Skating Rinks ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at usaskatingrinks.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We take privacy seriously. We built this Site as a public-good directory and have deliberately minimized data collection. We do not sell your personal information — ever.

We only collect information you actively submit to us. This includes:

  • Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and the contents of your message when you use our contact form. This data is processed and stored by Formspree (see Third-Party Services below).

We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect payment information.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our hosting provider (Vercel) and web infrastructure (Cloudflare) may automatically collect standard server log data, including:

  • Your IP address (typically anonymized or truncated)
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages visited and timestamps
  • Referring URL
  • General geographic region (country/city level)

This data is used for security, performance monitoring, and abuse prevention. We do not use this data to build profiles of individual visitors.

Cookies

This Site uses minimal cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies. Cloudflare may set a security cookie (__cf_bm) to protect the Site from automated abuse. This cookie does not track your browsing activity across other websites.

Our search functionality (powered by Pagefind) runs entirely in your browser and does not send search queries to any external server.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to contact form submissions and support requests
  • Maintain and improve the accuracy of our directory listings
  • Monitor for security threats and prevent abuse
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the Site

We do not use your information for advertising, remarketing, or any form of behavioral profiling.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — Formspree processes contact form submissions on our behalf under their own privacy policy. Vercel hosts our Site and has access to server log data. Cloudflare provides security and CDN services and processes traffic data under their privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

All third-party service providers we use are contractually required to process data only for the purposes we specify and to maintain appropriate security standards.

4. Third-Party Links and Services

Listing pages on this Site contain links to third-party websites, including individual rink websites, Google Maps, and Facebook pages. When you click these links, you leave our Site and are subject to those third parties' privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites.

Google ratings, review counts, and map links displayed on listing pages are sourced from Google Maps Platform. Your interactions with Google Maps are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained by Formspree for as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry, after which we delete them. Server log data retained by Vercel and Cloudflare is subject to their respective retention policies, typically 30–90 days.

We do not maintain a database of individual visitor records.

6. Your Rights

All users

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of that information
  • Opt out of any future communications from us

European Economic Area (EEA) and UK residents — GDPR

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

  • Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data

Our legal basis for processing contact form data is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given when you voluntarily submit the form. You may withdraw consent at any time.

We use industry-standard security measures to protect our Site and the information processed through it, including HTTPS encryption on all pages, Cloudflare DDoS protection, and access controls on any data storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
